The commissioner of the EU, Mr. Peter Mandelson declared that the US prosecutors aim are European online gambling companies. In the targeted online gambling companies are London-listed PartyGaming, Sportingbet and 888 companies.

"The European Union is supporting an industry crowd which says the US is contravening free trade commitments by looking to prosecute overseas online gambling companies that stopped taking bets from America after prohibition 17 months ago.

The EU commissioner also declared that US has the right to deal with legitimate public policy concerns linking to internet gambling, but bigotry against EU companies cannot be part of the policy mix.
