After an unexpected turn of events, the Caribbean Islands of Antigua and Barbuda failed to make UK’s online gambling white list. This came in spite of the fact that Antigua and Barbuda is a popular online gambling jurisdiction for many top-rated online gambling operators around the world.

Another famous online gambling jurisdiction rejected by the UK Department of Culture, Media and Sports was Kahnawake, based in Canada. Instead, UK approved in the white list Tasmania.

It looks that both jurisdictions notoriety didn’t count for UK. This is a blow for both Caribbean Islands and Kahnawake online gambling jurisdictions as this translates in the fact that their licenses for online casinos, poker rooms, online sports books and bingo halls will not be allowed to advertise their services in UK.

Director of gaming within Antigua's financial services Regulatory Commission, Kaye McDonald declared that of course they are disappointed in the UK’s decision but they remain confident that Antigua and Barbuda will make the UK's white list in the near future.

'We understand that this is an enduring process and will continue to work closely with the UK government. A positive example for us is Tasmania who at first was not approved in the white list but eventually managed to meet the required conditions, and we aim to follow suit,' she added.
