The Shark is a wonderfully imaginative offering from RealTime Gaming, one of the best in the business in online casino software. It is a five-reel, five-coin, nine-payline slot game with a scatter, a bonus game, and a progressive jackpot. It also has colorful, vivid graphics, a trademark for RGT, which wrapped this package up with an aquatic theme.
This game is a little more involved than some of the other online slots games and the progressive jackpot games, but it's user-friendly, which makes the thing a lot easier to understand. The buttons that are located at the bottom of the interface are arranged very, very neatly and tell you exactly which way to go, in selecting the number of paylines you are going to play (Select Lines), making a one-unit bet (Bet One) or betting the absolute the maximum (Bet Max). Of course, when you click "Spin," you're ready to jump in!
Achieving five starfish on an enabled payline while you have a maximum bet of five coins out will win the "Shark Power Super Jackpot." That's indeed the progressive jackpot, and there is a running total of the available jackpot right at the bottom of the game interface. The highest jackpot aside from that is 1800 coins when you have four starfish on a payline with five coins out. You have to have a five-coin bet to qualify for the progressive jackpot.
At five (coins) times nine (lines), the maximum amount of coins you can play on any one round of play is 45 coins.
When you click to spin the reels, that sets off an effect which sounds like water is bubbling (if you want to shut these sounds off, there are controls in the "Options" panel). When the shark symbol shows up, you'll hear a scream of sorts, but don't be alarmed. What happens when you get a few of them, you are able to get in on the bonus game. Regardless of what you're betting or how many paylines you have enabled, if you get three Shark symbols, anywhere on the screen, you reach the "Shark Bonus Round." In this game you will have to guess whether the next card is higher or lower than the last one. Your potential win is up to 2700 in this bonus game if you have a five-coin bet with nine paylines enabled.
Here's a rundown on the maximum jackpot available for five on an enabled payline, with the maximum five-coin bet entered into the game:
Seahorse - 1225
Sand Dollar - 900
Octopus - 450
Rainbow Fish - 270
Clam - 135
There is a scatter in this game and it's the "Treasure Chest" symbol. In case you don't know, scatters are symbols that are able to "score," no matter where they show up on the five reels. In this case, if you are able to turn up at least three Treasure Chest symbols, one of them is going to open up, which awards you a "Treasure Chest Bonus." What's attractive about this is that you don't have to have the maximum bet out, or any minimum number of paylines enabled. You can win up to 495 credits if you have the maximum number of coins bet and the maximum number of paylines enabled.
What's pretty cool about this game (aside from being in the water) is that even though there is a lot of stuff happening, it's really easy to figure out what's going on. There's never a doubt about any payout, because it's all detailed in a rather comprehensive "Pay Table," which can be accessed by clicking a button. This is one place where you won't drown, but if you’re still unsure, it’s available as a free slots game too!
