The slots machines used nowadays in land based casinos all over the world are all part of a new generation of machines. Some players find their size, their sounds and their graphics captivating and they consider them better that the previous models. Other players though only think of them as a casino gimmick.
Slots machines nowadays offer a large variety of themes. These themes range from sitcoms to game shows and even board games. Slot machines that have sitcom inspired themes are: "I Dream of Jeannie", "The Addams Family" or "The Munsters". Slot machines that have game shows inspired themes are: "Price is Right" or "Wheel of Fortune". Did you ever think that board games will inspire a slots game? Well nowadays you can play slot machines that have Monopoly or Scrabble themes. Chances are you will find as many as 12 Monopoly inspired slots in the same casino. Not even classic cartoon characters have been overlooked. You wil find slots machines with a Popeye, Dagwood or Betty Boop theme. Needles to say that the older slots game players did not look too kindly to these new machines. How far will the manufacturers take the development of slots machines? Some players feel that all these themes, flashy lights and sounds serve no purpose other than to distract you from the game. They feel there is an art behind playing slots and these new slots ruin it and also ruin all the fun a player gets when playing slots. Do you have an opinion on the matter? What do you think the new slots machines bring to the game? |
